Central American Journey
HIGHLIGHTS:Itinerary:Day 1 Arrive Cancun Arrive in Cancun at any time. Day 2-3 Playa del Carmen Located about an hour south of Cancun, Playa is a small oceanside town with a big reputation on the Mayan Riviera. Spend your time snorkelling, parasailing, relaxing on the beach or take an optional visit to Tulum, the marvelous beachside Mayan ruins a little further down the coast. Day 4-7 Belize Belize is famous for its barrier reef and laid-back Caribbean atmosphere, both of which are found on Caye Caulker, our first destination in the country. After our stay on this top snorkelling and diving spot, make your way to the Cayo area to explore the region?s jungles and caves. Day 8-16 Guatemala Crossing the border, catch a bus to Flores?a colourful town on Lake Peten Itza and the starting point for an excursion to the magnificent Mayan ruins of Tikal. Nestled in the jungle, Tikal is one of the most impressive Mayan ruin sites in the Americas. Continue on to Rio Dulce, the gateway to Guatemala's Caribbean Coast, before arriving in colonial Antigua. Day 17-20 Honduras Explore the outstanding ruins of Copan, which has temples, pyramids and intricately carved stellae (statues) that predate many European civilizations. The next stop after the ruins is Utila, one of the Bay Islands, where we can pass the time diving or snorkeling in crystalline waters or taking it easy. Day 21-26 Nicaragua The Nicaragua of today is an adventure traveller?s dream with incredibly friendly people, natural beauty and untouched locations. Whether it?s wandering Granada's charming colonial streets, hiking around an active volcano, witnessing the primal splendor of Ometepe Island or taking a day trip on the country?s famous lake, Nicaragua is unforgettable! Day 27-31 Costa Rica Costa Rica is a must-see for its breathtaking flora and fauna. Travelling from cool cloudforest to rainforests gives a full spectrum of the country's diversity. Take time to bird watch, go horseback riding, or try mountain biking. Soak up some pure mountain air before ending our journey in the capital city of San Jose. Day 32 Depart San Jose
