  • Frank & Christine Zurline Lead A Group Through Panama & Costa Rica on Windstar

In January Frank & Christine Zurline escorted a group of friends through the Panama Canal aboard Windstar Cruise Line. The Windstar cruise experience is unique unto itself, being a small sailing ship carrying just 150 passengers & 100 crew members. With this ratio, your service and cuisine is even more superb than on the typical cruise. The ship's stern folds down to allow passengers to swim, kayak and enjoy the warm waters & the tropical heat. The group also enjoyed a 1/2 day hike through a Costa Rican rain forest. The islands off the Pacific coast of Panama & Costa Rica proved very picturesque. All this natural paradise combined with traversing the man-made miracle of the canal caused Frank & Christine to rate this trip a "must do" experience.

      "Let's Talk Travel"
    You're Invited...
    "Australia: The Basics"
The How, When, Where & Why of Traveling to Australia
with Mary Hickman, Premier Australia Specialist
    Thursday Travel Talk - June 30, 2011 - 4:30 p.m.

On Thursday, June 30, Mary Hickman, Premier Aussie Specialist and Travel Consultant, will share photographs and present "Australia:  The Basics -- The How, When, Where and Why of Traveling to Australia."  Mary Hickman has been designated a Premier Australia Specialist by Tourism Australia since the program's inception in 2003 for her knowledge and experience in travel to Australia.  In 2008, she was awarded the prestigious Opal Award for an itinerary she arranged for Bellingham clients.  She was named a finalist for the award in 2009 and 2010 also.  You'll find her listed on the Australia.com website as a preferred agent to contact.  But better yet - find her here at Bellingham Travel & Cruise.

Mary has traveled extensively within Australia, having visited all the states and territories.  On one of her most recent trips, she circled the entire country.  On both coasts, she has ridden camels on beaches and sandboarded on the dunes.  She has taken the Outback Mail Run and knows that the mineral display in the South Australia Museum is spectacular because it is arranged by color.  She can tell you what it feels like to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge during the daytime and at night and where to have your celebration beer afterwards.  Or, maybe you'd like to camp in the middle of Sydney Harbour. She knows where it can be done.  She can tell you where to learn about Aboriginal culture or to buy Aboriginal art.  And, she knows where you can hold a Koala or carry a freshly laid turtle egg to a safe nest above the high tide line.

Come listen and learn about traveling down under.

Happy Spring!  We have been as busy as the season growing new ideas. We've hardly had time to stick our heads up!

In February we kicked off our new "Thursday Travel Talk" series:  monthly presentations on interesting destinations given here at our office, free of charge, and open to the public.  Presenters to date have been:  Tore Ofteness, photographer, on Italy; Mart Stewart, WWU Professor, on Vietnam; and Ron Glazer, retired director of the Santa Ana Zoo, on Africa. Watch for the announcement of our May Thursday Travel Talk and join us.

You can now keep up with "Travel Talk" events, travel photos, information, trivia and great deals by following us on Facebook, another new thing we've been working on this spring.  Click the "Like Us" box to the left and check us out.  We have invited our travelers to share their favorite travel pictures and look forward to your participation to help us make this page a fun and informative experience.

Our phone system has been improved to better serve you also.  We know that you are as busy as we are and looking for ways to save time.  Now you can opt to dial your favorite travel agent directly and avoid going through the switchboard if you choose.

So back to work now...but take time to see the tulips and, OF COURSE, to come in and book a vacation!
